Its been 5 months and 2 days since I've last posted...

Since then, I kind of had a pout of LJ depression which I did not want to post at all. About anything. I still logged on to read everyone else's posts and such, occasionally replying to some posts. After a while, I was blah until I went to Dragon*Con 2006. The event itself was always fun, but it was an hour and a half after it ended on Labor Day that made it memorable.

I didn't feel like going to dinner with everyone else I went with to D*C. So I went to the hotel bar and have a beer or two. There were tables with some groups going over the events of the past weekend. Time past and the gang came back and brought me some food. They went to the room for a bit and proceeded to eat. As I ate, I was overhearing conversation between what I thought were 2 couples over sci-fi and shows they liked. I heard Red Dwarf being mentioned and looked over that way. One of the girls, who was scarlet-haired, saw I was interested and I asked if I could join in the convo. I sat down and met everyone and found out that no-one was with each other. The two girls were friends and roomies at the hotel. The red-headed girl was saying there were no really good fan clubs where she is from. I told I didn't know of any. She asked where I was from and I told her I was from Virginia Beach. Her face dropped and she told me she lives in Chesapeake. What were the odds? She introduced herself to me as Katherine. I met her other friends Linda from Chicago, Carlos from California, and Edgar from Canada. The five of us were talking and laughing and having a good time. Katherine asked for my number as she was writing hers down. I offered my e-mail address and she put hers down as well. After a while, Edgar left for the airport, Carlos went out with his friend who popped by, then Katherine and Linda went to dinner. I remained at the bar as my friends were arriving for our post-con fallout drinks.

It was 11:30 and everyone went back to their rooms to rest for the trip back in the morning. I stayed and saw nothing was on TV since all media was dominated by the death of Steve Irwin. I was watching CNN when I heard someone call my name. I looked and there was Katherine walking toward me. I brightened up and we started talking. We talked about our situations and stuff we liked. We were then joined by Carlos and Loretta, a photo and autograph hound who was lugging her binders of pictures to show us of her accomplishments over the weekend. It got real late before they both left and it was just us again. At that point, we just decided to call it a night. We said we would call when we got back. We hugged and then kissed, then went to our rooms.

As the gang and I got packed and ready to go later in the morning. I called her to see if she left yet. She was out front waiting for her car with her friends. She said she was going to nap and I wished her a safe trip and would talk to her when we got home. A few hours passed on the road and I thought I would text her on her phone saying I hope you had a good nap. To my surprise she replied, and that set off a game of text-tennis that had us sending about 40 messages back and forth. I still have them on my phone.

We got back at around 8-9pm and I drove home to unpack and call Katherine. We talked for a couple of hours and arranged to have a date on that Friday to have dinner and go to Rocky Horror, which she went to her first show at D*C. It was set and I went to sleep. The next day she called me from work and asked if we could go out that night instead of Friday. I said sure and wondered what I was going to do. We went out to dinner and walked on the Boardwalk at the Oceanfront, one of my fav things to do at the beach. As we walked, I felt really good around her and I let her know it. I told her how I felt and how I really liked her. This wasn't like me to blurt stuff out on a first date, but we kind of had the equivalent of 3-4 dates back at D*C, so I guessed it was alright to make a fool out of myself. We kissed very passionately and from then on we have been going out. She's met my folks, accompanied me to my sister's wedding, and totally spoiled me for Christmas. I really love this woman. My friends really like her and for the first time in a long, long time I'm in a really, REALLY, good place in my heart.

Okay, you can now start joking and snickering at me.
